The Universe Immunisation Programme (UPIP) was launched in 1985 to reduce infant, child and maternal morbidity and mortality by protecting against six- vaccine preventable diseases, viz., Tuberculosis, Diphtheira, Pertusis, Tetanus, Polio and Measles, The immunization coverage improved significantly between 1985-1990.

The Universe Immunisation Programme (UPIP) was launched in 1985 to reduce infant, child and maternal morbidity and mortality by protecting against six- vaccine preventable diseases, viz., Tuberculosis, Diphtheira, Pertusis, Tetanus, Polio and Measles, The immunization coverage improved significantly between 1985-1990. Therefore, the coverage has been sustained for all the antigens between 85 percent and 100 percent.
