Rajasthan New Chief Minister: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has surprised the people of Rajasthan by announcing Bhajan Lal Sharma as the new face of state government. This came out of a long brainstorming session by BJP's high command. Also, media reports state that the name for Bhajan Lal Sharma came up as a suggestion from former chief minister Vasundhara Raje.

The newly chosen Sharma, a first-time MLA rose to this position from ground politics. He contested the election from Sangner and secured 145,162 votes against his Indian National Congress (INC) opponent, Pushpendra Bhardwaj, who polled 97,081 votes.
