Ermira "Mira" Murati was born on December 16, 1988, in Vlorë, Albania. She is an engineer and one of the world's leading technology executives, renowned for her remarkable achievements as the Chief Technology Officer of OpenAI toward the innovative AI technologies of ChatGPT and DALL-E.

Early Life and Education

She secured a scholarship to attend the United World College of the Pacific, in Canada, when she was just 16 years old. She graduated in 2005 before attending college on both sides of the Atlantic. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Colby College, graduating in 2011. She also received her Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Thayer School of Engineering from Dartmouth College, graduating in 2012. Career 

Murati began as an intern with Goldman Sachs but advanced to become an Advanced Concepts Engineer for Zodiac Aerospace. She was employed by Tesla since 2013, initially as its Senior Product Manager for Model X. Later, before joining OpenAI in 2018 as Vice President of Applied AI and Partnerships, Murati was with Leap Motion. She was promoted to CTO in May 2022 and managed several projects, and teams that focused on machine learning for the creation of multiple advanced AI models.

Contributions to OpenAI

She was the guiding force for OpenAI in bringing it closer to completing its mission in developing and deploying ethical AI.
