Renowned professor Nageshwar Rao has been apointed as the Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), which claims to be the largest Open University in the world. Prof Rao, who has served as vice chancellor of various universities in the past took charge of his new post on Thursday. He served as Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) prior to this.
This is not his first stint with IGNOU as the professor has already worked as Pro Vice Chancellor with the open university in New Delhi during December 2013 to November 2014.
He also served as Vice Chancellor of Kumanyu University Nainital between November 2016 to April 2017 and Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Allahabad between August 2008 to August 2011.
Rao worked as a professor in Management for more than two decades and is recipient of gold medals and various scholarships.
Professor has written a total of eight books and with most popular being ‘Administration on Public Enterprises in India’ and ‘Communication Skills'.
According to reports, over 37 students have been awarded Ph.D in management under Rao's supervision.
