The All India Council for Technical Education has asked the AICTE approved colleges to release the salary of the faculty and staff in time. The order has been issued by the AICTE on account of the complaints received from some of the institutions affiliated to the AICTE. According to reports, this is the second time that the AICTE is asking the institutions under the council to pay the salary of the staff members on time.
In the official notification released on the website of the AICTE, it has been stated that the Council has been r receiving complaints that some of the institutions have not yet paid the salary of the faculty members for the month of March 2020 and in some cases since February 2020.
The official notification stated that in the time of a National Emergency when the whole country is under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the staff members not being paid their monthly salary will lead to stress and starvation of the families of some of the staff members. The AICTE has thus requested that institutions to make sure that the salary of the staff members is paid on time.
According to another notification released on the AICTE website, it has also been stated that various institutions have not paid the salary to their faculty and staff members for the duration of the lockdown while certain institutions have also terminated the services of certain faculty/ staff members.
AICTE Instructions to Institutes/Colleges during the lockdown
The AICTE has clarified that the salary and other dues of the faculty members will be released for the duration of the lockdown and also the terminations made during the lockdown will be withdrawn. The AICTE has emphasized that the same have to be followed strictly by the institutions.
Online Workshop on Universal Human Values in Education
The University of Mumbai and the AICTE announced an online workshop on University Human Values in Education from May 13 to 7, 2020. The workshop will help in the continuing teaching process amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

According to the Academic Calendar released by the AICTE, the new academic session in the colleges offering Diploma or Certificate Courses will begin from July 1, 2020. The academic session for the fresh batch of students will begin from August 1, 2020. The institutions will also not be allowed to increase their fee for this academic year.
