IIT Madras Online Courses: Keeping up with the need of current times, IIT Madras has launched World’s First Online BSc Degree Programme in Data Science And Programming. According to the details shared by IIT Madras Director Bhaskar Ramamurthy the course learning would be imparted online via digital platforms while the exams will be held in offline format to ensure transparency and proper testing. The programme was launched with with a multiple entry and exit options and is one of its kind on offer in India. Another interesting aspect about the programme is that admission to this IIT BSc Degree programme is offered on the basis of Class 12 qualifying exam rather than entrance exam such as JEE Main 2020. Eligibility Criteira & Other Details

Indian Institute of Technology has introduced an online B.Sc degree course in Programming and Data Science. The B.Sc programme is for those students interested to study programming and data science from anywhere in the country. Students interested to apply for the programme must have qualified class 12 or equivalent examinations and must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree Programme or have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from any stream. It must also be noted that the students who have dropped out of a Bachelor's degree programme are also eligible to apply.

The new B.Sc Degree programme offered by IIT Madras is designed for online study and comes with quiz and examination where students are required to work hard and appear for the same in person in order to clear the tests. 

IT Madras will also be providing placement support to the top-performing students along with soft skill training and invite them to participate in internal projects of the institute. Students are also being provided with the facility to exit at any level with a certificate or diploma.

Fee Details 

In order to complete the course with a B.Sc degree, it may cost a candidate roughly around Rs. 3.55 lakhs in case of General Category while the foundation course costs around Rs. 32,000. Fee waivers will also be applicable for the students from selected categories.

The course was launched by Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal who at the launch spoke to the students regarding the recent ban of the government on Chinese apps and how it is an opportunity for them to create alternatives of the same.
