
The Council of Architecture (COA) Minimum Standards of Architectural Education Regulations 2020 have been released marking a new architecture programme for this year. According to the changes incorporated, the students will have the option of exiting the programme at the end of three years. The university will award an appropriate degree for those exiting the programme.
According to the newly launched regulations, the Choice Based Credit System has been introduced with experience in training in the eighth and ninth semesters.
Stress has been laid on hands-on learning with the help of study tours to cultural and historic sites which will also pave way for an exchange programme with the national and international universities. As per the new regulations. The new regulations focus on bridging the gap between the industry and academia.
NATA admissions
The admissions to the architecture programme will be conducted based on the marks secured by the students in the class 12 examinations and the National Aptitude Test in Architecture. The new regulations have been set based on the National Education Policy launched by the Education minister last month which offers a multi-disciplinary approach in the courses offered. The new regulations also allow for the semester exchange option with regard to flexibility to offer the courses along with allowing private practice and research for the faculty members associated with the architectural programmes.
Teacher training programs have also been made mandatory before joining the programme and the pay scale to be followed will be as per the government directive.
