Delhi Police have registered an FIR after allegedly forged disability certificates were submitted for nursery admissions under the CWSN category for the 2026-27 academic session. The certificates showed 41% hearing impairment and were purportedly issued by a government hospital.
Delhi Police have registered an FIR over the alleged submission of forged disability certificates for nursery admissions under the Children With Special Needs (CWSN) category for the 2026-27 academic session.
The case came to light after a prominent school in Chanakyapuri flagged disability certificates submitted by applicants seeking admission under the CWSN category. The certificates reportedly showed 41% hearing impairment and were purportedly issued by a government hospital.
During a preliminary inquiry, the certificates were found to be forged, according to the police. Following the inquiry, Delhi Police registered an FIR in connection with the alleged submission of the documents for nursery admissions.
The FIR was registered under Sections 318(2), 337, 340(2) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case relates to admissions for the 2026-27 academic session. The CWSN category is intended to provide admission opportunities and support for children with special needs. Documents submitted under the category are required to establish eligibility as per the applicable admission rules.
According to the preliminary findings, the disability certificates submitted in the case did not appear to be genuine. The alleged certificates mentioned a 41% hearing impairment and were shown as having been issued by a government hospital.
Several Similar Cases Witnessed Earlier Also
Delhi has previously witnessed cases involving the alleged fabrication and misuse of educational documents. In one such case reported in July, police uncovered a network accused of preparing and selling fake Class 10 and 12 certificates for as much as Rs 10,000 each. Three people identified as alleged masterminds were arrested. Police said their investigation found that around 150 forged marksheets had been supplied, with the accused allegedly using the expired registration details of an educational institution to create backdated documents that could appear authentic.
Case Registered Under BNS Provisions
The police have initiated an investigation to establish how the certificates were prepared and submitted and to identify those involved in the alleged forgery. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
The case highlights the importance of verification of documents submitted during school admissions, particularly where applicants seek benefits or seats under specific categories.
Police have registered the case under the relevant provisions of the BNS, and the investigation is currently underway. The allegations are subject to investigation and any further legal proceedings.
