DU Colleges Reopening for 1st Year

Delhi University Reopening: As per the recent updates, Delhi University has released the academic calendar for 1st-year students at du.ac.in. As per the academic calendar, the classes for 1st year UG students will start from 22nd November whereas classes for PG students will commence from 1st December 2021. It has not been specified whether the classes will be held in offline or online mode. However, as per media reports, DU will reopen for offline only after DDMA gives a nod to 100% seating capacity. Further, the Varsity official informed that 60% of students of the University are from outside Delhi. In such a situation, it becomes difficult to tell them to come to campus, live in hostels and take online classes as only 50% seating capacity is allowed.

Reopening Classes in Physical Mode

For reopening classes in physical mode, the university stated that its awaiting DDMA to allow 100% capacity. As per media reports, the Delhi University Registrar Vikas Gupta stated that “How can we reopen until and unless the DDMA allows 100 per cent seating capacity. 60 per cent of students of the university are from outside Delhi. We can’t ask them to come here, stay in a hostel and take online classes since only 50 per cent seating capacity is allowed.” As of now, most classes are being held in online mode and the laboratory classes for final year students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) is allowed on the campus with COVID-19 protocols.

The University of Delhi released its fifth cut-off list on Monday, with some colleges reopening admissions in a few courses for general category students. The admission under the fifth cut-off list commenced on Tuesday, while the special cut-off will be released on 13th November 2021. Delhi University will approve the admission against the DU 2021 fifth cut off by 11th November (5 pm).
