DU College Reopening Update: Even as Delhi Govt announced Yellow Alert with rise in COVID-19 Case Positivity, a fake circular under the banner of Delhi University claiming resumption of offline classes went viral on social media. The fake circular which was issued under the letter head of Delhi University claimed that Delhi University has ordered reopening of colleges from 10th January 2022 and resumption of offline classes for all its students. The order claimed that DU has directed all colleges to reopen for offline classes for students of all postgraduate and undergraduate programmes.
Fake Circular Debunked by PIB Fact Check Team
The Fake circular that went viral on social media platforms was dated 28th December 2021 and claimed that the University has cleared the decks for reopening of colleges and resumption of offline classes. However, soon after it went viral, Government’s fact check agency, PIB Fact Check issued a clarification saying that the order was infact fake and no such order has been passed by Delhi University. Following the clarification from PIB Fact Check, Delhi University also sent out an official tweet from its account saying that “This is fake news. The University of Delhi has not issued any such notification on reopening of Colleges.”
