Global Sustainability Awards 2021: The awards ceremony for First‘Global Sustainability Awards’ for Schools will be held on 10th December. Sh. Rajeev Ranjan, Commissioner Gurgaon, will be the chief guest at this mega event. Besides him, many other eminent personalities from organizations such as UN Global Compact, TERI and CEE will grace the occasion with their presence. The glittering awards ceremony will see schools honoured for their efforts, which will, in turn, motivate schools to adopt sustainable practices and impart climate education, which is the need of the hour.
The Global Sustainability Awards are being presented by ARCedtech (a pioneer in Education for Sustainable Development), SDG Chaupal (SDGAction Initiative of Nagrik Foundation) and EarthDay.org. JagranJosh.com (education portal of Jagran New Media, the digital wing of Dainik Jagran) supports the UN’s Agenda 2030 and is the media partner for these awards. Other distinguished partners include Founders4Schools and Eco Roots Foundation.
Why Global Sustainability Awards 2021?
The awards celebrate K-12 Institutions that are building a sustainable future for the earth by grooming the future leaders by integrating 17 UN SDGs within their curriculum and activities. The Global Sustainability Awards are being held to celebrate the efforts put in byschools and K-12 Institutions to foster a culture of sustainability among children and showcase best practices from schools around the globe. An eminent panel of Jurists drawn from the field of education and institutions supporting the SDGs will select the winners from a pool of applicants from India and abroad.
Participation and Award Parameters
More than 150 schools from 9 countries and 4 continents applied for the awards, of which around 40 schools have been selected for the top awards in a fair and transparent process. The schools were assessed on the following parameters:
- Education for Sustainable Development being imparted to students
- Sustainable practices followed in the institution
- Making a social impact through community work
- Innovative/Unique efforts towards sustainability
The schools were not charged any fee for the awards to enable maximum participation.
