Gujarat University 72nd Convocation: The Gujarat University held the 72nd Annual Convocation ceremony on January 19, 2024, in the presence of Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel. More than 50,000 students obtained degrees in various courses.
The Gujarat CM praised the youth and wished them well in the future. Moreover, he referred to the Amrit Mahotsav as a special opportunity to mark the nation's entry into the Amrit period and 75 years of Gujarat University's foundation. In his speech, Chief Minister Patel also mentioned the Prime Minister’s emphasis on ‘Youth Power’ in the Four Pillars for Building a Developed India. Additionally, he urged the students in the north to help build a ‘Developed India’ by putting the nation's ideals first.
Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed the students and talked about various topics including research, development, democracy, and governance. He called himself fortunate to inaugurate the Atal Kalam Research Centre at the university. He noted that the centre would emerge as the ‘nerve centre and epicenter of change’ in the country’s research and development landscape.
V-P Dhankhar’s Message For Students
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar stated that industry leaders must support educational institutions in the fields of research and development so that the students are well-versed with the disruptive technologies of this day and age. He emphasised the developing technology, Quantum computing mission, and green hydrogen in India that only a few countries have currently. Further, he urged the students to research more on these topics and avail opportunities in related fields.
Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar talked about his role as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. He did not want the temple of democracy to be tarnished in a way that raises questions about the people in power. Jagdeep stressed that students possessing discerning minds can have a significant impact on democratic governance.
