The Maharashtra School Education Department in partnership with UNICEF India has launched an online career portal for the students from classes 9 to 12. The online career portal has been launched since the students have been at home due to the COVID-19 lockdown in the state. The online career portal will let students get more information regarding career pathways and details on education, entrance exams, and earnings based on the interest of the students.
The online portal was launched by the education minister via a webinar on Friday. Students can access the online portal on the website - mahacareerportal.com. The online portal was developed by UNICEF along with iDream Career. The online career portal will be available for the students from May 27, 2020, with a user ID and Password which will be shared with the students from the schools.
School Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad, said that the online portal will empower the students to explore the different career options including those which are not exposed otherwise. The portal will also serve as an important tool for the state counsellors to support the students to make a choice about their future. The portal has been adapted to the context of the state in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Council for Educational Research and Training which is also available in Marathi, Hindi, and English.
The online career portal features over 500 careers which will be updated regularly and also include the non-traditional career areas including Agriculture and Food Science, Hospitality and Tourism, Virology, Animation and Graphics, and Sports and Fitness. The portal will also help in allowing a learner to look up the career domain and understand the eligibility, education requirements, colleges in the different countries. The portal will also offer the required courses, scholarships, and fellowships with different entry points to the field and different growth options in the particular career domain.
