Parents Samvad Programme: As per the updates, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia launched "Parents Samvad", an outreach programme for parents of Delhi government school children. According to Deputy CM, over 18 lakh parents will be connected on a one-to-one basis under the programme called "Parents Samvad: let's talk to parents". In this programme, Delhi government schools will seek help from volunteer parents, who will be called 'school mitras', to bridge the gap between School Management Committees (SMCs) and parents.
Manish Sisodia's Statement
At the launch of the event, Manish Sisodia stated, "There are two kinds of parenting that are common here, which is either zero parenting or over-parenting, and both of them are harmful for overall development of the child. Either parents become bosses for children trying to instruct them rather than guiding or the new generation parents try to become friends, but children need just parents, not bosses or friends. There are separate people to play those roles in their lives."
DU College Reopening
There has been an increasing demand for complete reopening of campus by students and teachers. However, the varsity stated that Delhi University will wait for guidelines from the government before reopening colleges. As per the university Registrar Vikas Gupta, "Let the government issue something in black and white. Then we will decide." He also added that the campus will be reopened only if the DDMA allowed 100% seating capacity. As most of the students are from outside Delhi, and it will be difficult for teachers to decide whom to call with a 50% seating cap.
Delhi School for Class 6 to 8 Students To Reopen
Recently, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) expert panel has recommended reopening schools for classes 6th to 8th in Delhi with 50% capacity. The expert panel noted that there have been no reported instances of local transmission of COVID-19 due to the resumption of physical classes for 9th to 12th. After observing the same, DDMA took this decision.
Further, The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has allowed the reopening of all Delhi schools, colleges and other educational institutions from 1st November. Schools will have to ensure that classes are conducted in a hybrid mode which means online classes will continue. Also, parents cannot be forced to send their ward to schools.
