Osmania University Classes closed

Osmania University will be closed until January 30, 2022, and classes will be conducted in online mode from today onwards. The decision to close down the college campus was taken considering the increasing COVID cases in the state. Telangana state government announced the closing of the educational institutions until January 30, 2022, and extended the Sankranthi holidays.

Holidays extended until January 30

Telangana state government recently recorded 2,047 new COVID cases with three deaths. Considering this, the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao ordered for the extension of the holidays in all the educational institutions -private aided and government institutions except the medical college until January 30, 2022.

Osmania University on its official social media handle has announced that all the stakeholders of Osmania University are informed that the ongoing holidays which began from January 8 have been extended to January 30, 2022. The arrangements for conducting offline classes have also been made starting from January 17, 2022, the statement further stated.

As per local media reports, Osmania University examinations and other tests scheduled between January 17 and 31, 2022 are also being postponed until further notice.

Meeting to be conducted

The Telangana state government had already declared the holidays for the educational institutions from January 8 to 16, 2022, and following this Osmania University has been closed until January 16, 2022, but with the government order, the closing has been extended further. Telangana state officials will be conducting a cabinet meeting along with CM K Chandrashekar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan for discussions regarding the pandemic and other issues. 

Other states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, and others have closed their schools and educational institutions in order to curb the increasing COVID cases in the states.
