Telangana School Reopening Stayed: As per the latest update, the Telangana High Court has decided to stay the State Government’s order permitting reopening of Schools across the state partially. The High Court order has put on hold reopening of all government residential schools, social welfare hostels and tribal welfare hostels for physical or offline classes. Following the HC’s order on a PIL filed earlier, the all residential and hostel oriented schools will remain closed in the state. The decision comes after a PIL was filed in the High Court requesting for action.
Attendance for Offline Classes Optional
Another key change that has been ordered by the High Court is with regards to offline and online classes for reopening of schools. As per the High Court Order, attending offline classes has been made an option, nullifying the state government’s order which had made it mandatory for the students. In its today’s order, the High Court said that the decision to send students for offline classes or not stays with the parents. Moreover, because of the latest HC order, no student will be penalised in any way if they choose to not attend offline classes.
Report Sought for Reopening of Residential Schools
As reported earlier, the Telangana High Court has placed temporary stay order on the reopening of government residential schools, including social welfare hostels and tribal welfare hostels. The HC has asked State govt to submit a detailed report with all the necessary measures that have been taken to ensure safe reopening of such institutions. The report is to be submitted within a period of 4-weeks and should include all the necessary measures to being taken for reopening and government will have to make sure that there is no spread of COVID-19.
