The West Bengal Government has issued orders for shutting down of all the schools, colleges and institutions in the state until 15th April. The measure is being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the state. However, the Government has said that the West Bengal Class 10 and 12 Board examinations will be conducted as per scheduled.
Earlier, the WB Government on Saturday ordered the closing of all institutions starting 16th March to 31st March 2020. As per the new order all government, government-aided, private educational institutions - schools, colleges, universities, Madarsas, SSK (Shishu Shiksha Kendra) and MSK (Madhyamik Shiksha Kendra) will remain closed until 15th April. The internal examinations to be held in such institutions have also been suspended.
The West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has said that the decision of closing the educational institutions was taken keeping in mind the evolving situation on the spread of COVID 19 and the advisories issued by the World Health Organisation, the Central Government and as a matter of abundant precaution to prevent the novel coronavirus from spreading in the state.
