Amrita University’s Vidyut Fest 2014 Holds Codevilla Contest for Coding Geeks

Amrita University's ‘Vidyut 2014’, is organizing a national level multifest, which will provide an opportunity to explore the participant’s knowledge in coding area by making their brains exposed to different programming languages through its ‘codevilla’ contest.

Many other such intellectual contests such as e-villa, funvilla, Business villa, gaming villa etc will be held during the 3 day Vidyut‘ 14 fest to be held from 30 Jan- 1 February 2014.

The main attraction of the Codevilla contest of the Vidyut fest is the Prize worth Rs. 20,000 which will be awarded to the winners.

Codevilla Contest Details:

The Particular ‘CODEVILLA’ competition would be held Online.

The rounds and tasks to be solved comprise of 4 types:

1.    Reverse coding
2.    Artificial intelligence Game
3.    Code Golf
4.    Esoteric language

Reverse Coding: An executable is provided to the contestants and they need to mimic its behaviour.

Artificial Intelligence Game: This will be a two player game which will be assigned to the contestants, where they need to program their bots to play against each other. Those who win more games will score more points.

Code golf: A simple algorithmic problem will be provided to the contestants, they need to code with minimum characters.

Esoteric language: Programming should be done by using weird programming language like befuge, chef, false, lol code for which documentation will be provided.

Rules and Regulations:

1.    A team can consist Maximum of 3 members.
2.    All the four tasks should be completed within a period of 4 hours.
3.    Decision taken by judges is final and irrevocable.
4.    The score of the contestants will be considered only if all questions are attempted.
5.    College Identity cards and clear photographs by participants need to be provided.

Judgment Criteria:

The points scored in the given tasks are to be summed up, the highest scorer will be declared as the winner of contest.

Sample Program statement: Sample programs will be provided 15 days prior to the contest.
