Army Recruitment Rally witnesses good response in Chennai, will continue till 19 July

    The recent Army rally that began on July 10 at the BR Stadium to recruit candidates from seven districts of Chennai, has seen hundreds of enthusiastic candidates joining in for the trials. The candidates would be selected for various services in the Army and the selection would take place in Anantpur, Chittor, Guntur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore and Praksam districts. The rally would continue till 19 July, 2016 at these various districts around Chennai.

    According to sources more than 36000 candidates have appeared for the rally so far. They would get selected in various posts like soldier technical, soldier nursing assistant, soldier general duty, soldier tradesmen and soldier clerk/storekeeper.

    According to the Director of Recruitment, Dhruv Chaudhury, “We have about 3900 candidates appearing daily. The process begins at midnight when the height, chest expansion of the candidates in measured, followed by verification of admit card, physical tests including 1.6 km. run and other tests which are completed by 4 am.” .

    Many of the candidates were found sleeping on the traffic island opposite the BR stadium, waiting for their turn to come. The office has managed to barricade the track as well, so that the aspirants do not face any trouble during the rally. The arrangements got overseen by the local police and civic authorities. Large of numbers of candidates are reporting every day for the rally, due to which the officers in the conducting office have to remain on their toes.
