A session on career counseling was recently organized by students of Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I) as part of the two-day Utsaha programme. The programme was part of the rural marketing festival of IIM I which is set to start from November 24.
Ummed, which is a social welfare and engagement activity programme initiated by the IIM Indore students, would be carried out in Janpay Kutti this year. The activities of this programme began with a visit to the village two weeks age. A group of class 12 students from the village were invited under the activity to the IIM-Indore campus.
Career Counseling lectures were delivered by the IIM Indore faculty, Professor Sushanta Kumar Mishra of the OB Department and Professor Shweta Kushal of communication department during the programme. He pointed the students to emphasize to have set a goal in life and work towards achieving that goal. He put forward that self-confidence and belief in oneself is the key to success in life.
The media coordinator Revant Sindhu said that the response of the children was unanimous and they quickly understood the fact that money alone doesn’t equate of success. It is important to achieve peace of mind and be happy in life by helping others and value lives of others. The faculty in the counseling emphasized on requirement of diverse career options as only doctors and engineers could not sufficiently fill all the corners of society. There were discussions held and stories exchanged by the MBA first year students with the students, faculty and children present.
