CAT 2019 Exam Analysis Slot 2 - IIM Kozhikode (IIM-K) is the official organiser of the CAT 2019 exam concludes the CAT 2019 exam for both Slot 1 and 2 (morning and afternoon) on 24th November 2019. The CAT 2019 Slot 1 was conducted from 9:00 am to 12:00 p.m. and the afternoon got over at 5:30 PM across 354 test centers in 156 test cities. CAT 2019 test takers have provided key insights highlighting the difficulty level, important aspects, no. of questions and topics asked in the exam. CAT 2019 exam in Slot 2 was almost similar to the exam conducted in Slot 1. However, the key observations shared with us are as under:
DILR section
DILR section was easy in Slot 2 compared to slot 1, yet a little more time consuming. Only 3 sets were manageable rest other parts of this section were tricky and time-consuming. Test-takers say, "Higher accuracy is the key to score high in this section".
QA section
QA section was easy as compared to last year but lengthier than slot 1.
Arithmetic had 15+ Questions
VARC Section
VARC was of similar difficulty level as provided in the Slot 1. Questions asked on the Para-summary topic were tricky this time. This year, IIM-K gave a tough VARC section to the aspirants, compared to CAT 2017 and CAT 2018.

CAT 2019 Quantitative Aptitude
CAT 2019 QA section was relatively easy this time compared to the VARC and DILR section. The QA section was primarily dominated by questions from Arithmetic & Geometry. Overall this section was moderately difficult.

Questions from each topic in the CAT 2019 exam:
- Algebra : 8-10 questions
- Arithmetic : 8-10 questions
- Numbers : 6-8 questions
- Geometry : 5-7 questions
- Modern Maths : 1 or 2 questions
CAT 2019 Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension
It is one of the most difficult section among all other sections and was time consuming as well. This year the Parajumbles (TITA questions) has 4 sentences instead of 5 and was easy to solve. The Reading Comprehensions were quite lengthy and a difficult nut to crack. Out of four RCs, 2 of them were difficult to solve.

Verbal Ability - 10 questions

CAT 2019 Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
DILR was tricky and more difficult than last year. It involved higher thinking skills yet manageable in the allotted time limit for the candidates to attempt. Total number of Non-MCQ type of questions have increased to 31 in CAT 2019 as compared to 27 last year.

Candidates who have attempted certain no. of questions as mentioned below can expect 90+ percentile in the CAT 2019 exam:

Apart from the good number of attempts, test takers getting raw score of 156-160 marks can expect 99 percentile in the CAT 2019 exam. A raw score of 65-68 (in VARC), 48-50 marks (in DILR); and 55-59 (in QA) is considered good to be able to score overall 99 percentile and also clear the sectional cut-off to be eligible to apply in the IIMs.
