Department of Food, Punjab Notified Recruitment for 461 Inspector Posts

    Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Punjab issued notification for recruitment to 461 Group B posts of Inspector through Direct recruitment. Interested candidates should apply online through the departments’ website till 9 November 2013.

    Last date for depositing fees in any branch of State Bank of Patiala: 6 November 2013

    Last date to apply online: 9 November 2013 (midnight)

    No of vacancies: 461 posts

    Pay Scale: Rs. 10300 - 34800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4200 and Initial Pay of Rs. 16290.

    Type of Recruitment:  Direct recruitment

    Eligibility Criterion:

    Age limit: (as on 30 September 2013)

    Minimum: 18 years

    Maximum: 38 years

    (Upper age limit is relax-able by 4 years for widows, divorcees and certain other categories of female candidates, by 5 years for candidates belonging to SC / BC categories and by 10 years for PH candidates) 

    Qualifications: Graduate; Passed Punjabi Language subject up to Matric standard.

    Selection Procedure: Selection will be done on the basis of candidates’ performance in the written examination. 

    The 150 minute examination will be aimed to assess candidates’ language proficiency for both English and Punjabi and also to check their General Knowledge, Mental Ability / Reasoning, Mathematical Skills (with Matric) and Computer Proficiency.  The paper will have 150 questions of one mark each in both English and Punjabi.

    Candidates qualifying the written examination will have to produce their original certificates / testimonials, as and when asked.

    Negative marking: There is provision for negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

    Application fees: Non-refundable application fees has to deposited in any branch of State Bank of Patiala till 6 November 2013 using a fee payment challan (in triplicate – Bank Copy, Department copy, Candidate copy) available for download on the Department website  www.foodsuppb.nic.in

    Candidates should take a print-out of the fee payment challan, fill it and deposit the fees in the nearest SBP Branch.  After collecting the fees, the Bank will issue a unique transaction number (Journal Number) and mention it on the fee payment challan. The Bank will retain Bank’s copy of the fee payment challan and return the other two (Candidate’s Copy and Department’s copy) to the candidate. Candidates must ensure that the ‘Journal Number’ is clearly visible on both the parts of the fee payment challan. 

    After depositing the fees, candidates should get the Candidate’s copy of the bank challan scanned and upload it during registration.

    Candidates’ must retain both the Department’s copy and the Candidate’s copy of the fee payment challan for future reference.

    Details of amount of fees to be paid as per the Candidates’ category:

    a. SC / BC category: Rs.200

    b. All other categories (including General): Rs. 800

    How to Apply: Eligible and interested candidate can apply online through the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Punjab website  till 9 November 2013 (midnight).

    On successful submission of the online Application form, a login id and password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. Candidates should note these down and retain the note for future use -- logging into the recruitment portal to download the Admit Card or to obtain any other important information.

    After submitting the online Application form, candidates should take its 2 printouts, affix the same photograph (as uploaded with the online form) on it and retain it / keep it safely as it will be required to be submitted at the time of counseling along with the original counterfoil of the Fee Payment Challan (Department Copy) and copies of relevant certificates. Candidates will have to carry all Original certificates too for verification. 

    Candidate must have a valid personal email ID as the Department will send intimations for written test, when to download the Admit Card etc. through e-mail only.
