The Government of Assam and Global Education Group Pearson on 23 July 2012 announced a joint initiative to provide vocational skills training to young people in schools in the state.
This partnership will act as a catalyst as a platform for the introduction of the National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF), a national program to integrate skills, training and qualifications in schools.
Pearson is all set to bring forth vocational skills centers in ten selected government schools, it would initially offer two training streams, in retail and computer hardware and IT.
Before moving into higher classes, the courses will be introduced for students in standard ninth by August 2012.
