Judge your performance from the negative result. Do not feel low just because your IAS Prelims result is negative. You need to go the whole way till you pass the UPSC Civil Services examination, finally passing Prelims, Main and Personality Test.
Relax and think positive, you will be confident of your performance. This year (2011) many students could not pass the Prelims exam even when they had passed once or twice the Prelims in the previous years. Students faced difficulty due to the changed pattern of the Prelims exam, many of them couldn’t do well in the GS paper II (CSAT) and finally their result is negative. So, there is nothing to worry. Now you know the exam pattern, so you can prepare accordingly.
Take a few days off from studies and then get into tight studies once again. You just had prepared for the Prelims exam a few months back, so it is advisable to study and prepare from the Main exam point of view for a few months. It will give you a change in your study pattern. Then from December onwards you can start your preliminary exam.
Now as you have experienced the CSAT pattern, so it will not be difficult for you to prepare better this time. Work harder on all your loopholes and stay positive for a positive and successful result next year.
