IGNOU Launches a New PG Certificate Course for the Instructors of Visually Impaired: Apply Soon

School of Education of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched an innovative Post Graduate Certificate in Information and Assistive Technologies for the Instructors of Visually Impaired (PGCIATIVI).

School of Education of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched an innovative Post Graduate Certificate in Information and Assistive Technologies for the Instructors of Visually Impaired (PGCIATIVI).

Last date for application is 20 June 2014 and with late fee of Rs 300/- till 31 July 2014.

Student Handbook and Prospectus is available at all the Regional Centers/ Study Centers of the university which can be obtained in person for Rs.200/-.

The programme is designed to provide opportunity for educating and training the instructors of the visually impaired. The programme equips the learners in the use of modern and updated information and assistive technologies which provides hands on experience in acquiring skills and competencies. Certification will help in getting gainful employment in this emerging and challenging area.

The objective of this programme is to sensitize the learners in understanding the people with visual impairment and orient the learners about assistive and information technologies in general and for people with visual impairment in particular. It will equip the learners in the use of assistive and information technologies in teaching people with visual impairment and provide hands on experience in acquiring skills and competencies.

The eligibility for this programme is Bachelor degree in Computer Science from a recognized university (BCA/BSc-Computer Science) or Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university with diploma/certificate in Computer Science or Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university subject to the condition that PGCIATIVI will only be awarded after successfully completing the CIT programme of IGNOU. The programme is offered both in January and July session of IGNOU.

The duration of the PG Certificate in Information and Assistive Technologies for the Instructors of Visually Impaired (PGCIATIVI) programme is six months, however, student can complete it within a span of two years and there is no age bar. Medium of Instruction would be English.
