For the first time in its history, the India’s eminent B-schools, Indian Institute of Management - Bangalore has finished its summer internship placements in just three days. With 106 women students, it was the largest batch to be placed.
398 internship offers has been placed by 135 recruiters for the students of Postgraduate Programs in Management, the institute's flagship course. More than 50 students are picked by companies for their overseas destinations, and five students with over 34 months of work experience opted out of internship.
"Students received offers from new recruiters across sectors too," said Prof. Sankarshan Basu, chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM-B.
Majority (29%) of the offers were made in sales and marketing area, followed by management consulting sector covering 23% of the total offers. 22% of students secured internships in banking and financial services while 12% join conglomerates in general management and leadership profiles. Only 7% get offers in operations & IT.
