Indian Navy Civilian Jobs: Know about Posts, Eligibility, Selection Process, Salary & Vacancy Update

Like other defence forces, recruitment for Civilian posts in addition to the armed staff is common in Indian Navy too. Recruitment on civilian staff positions are aimed at dispensing the support services ranging from maintenance of ship and dockyard to office staff, mess staff, etc. The work profile for civilian posts differs as per the position to position. Usually, caretaking of record section, cleaning of section/unit, carrying paper or files from one officer to another, photocopy, sending fax, non-clerical works, dispensing routine tasks of the officer, duty of watch and ward, opening and closing office during office hours, cleaning of furniture, etc., ensure greenery in park, lawn and pots, assisting tradesmen in their duties and completing tasks assigned by the senior officials are some of the works carried out by the civilian staff in the Indian Navy.

Recruitment on civilian posts are done in different trades, like – Multi Tasking Staff (Non-Industrial), Data Entry Operator (DEO), Fireman, Groom, Pest Control Worker, Cook, Bearer, Fire Engine Driver, Saddler, Telephone Operator, Cinema Projectionist, Photo Printer, Civilian Motor Driver, Gardner, Washer man, Barber, Ward Assistant (only for females), Laboratory Attendant, Medical Attendant, Library and Information Assistant, Cameraman, Radiographer, Boxing Trainer, Trainer, Dispatch Rider, etc.

Eligibility Conditions for Indian Navy Civilian Jobs

To apply for Civilian Jobs in Indian Navy a candidate should be at least secondary (10th) passed from a recognised board or university. Also, the candidates should have ITI/NVCT, etc. certificate in the respective trade. For DEO post, candidate must have good typing speed on computers.

Age Limit for Indian Navy Civilian Jobs

To apply for Civilian Jobs in Indian Navy a candidate must have attained the age of 18 years but not exceeded 25 years.

Selection Procedure for Indian Navy Civilian Jobs

The selection of candidates on Civilian posts in Indian Navy is done according through the selection process laid down for different trades. Usually, selections are made on the basis of educational background, written exam, skill test or trade test, physical endurance test, etc. Also, the candidates need to appear for physical standard/fitness test as per the norms – Height 165 CM, Chest 81.5 CM (without expansion) and 85 CM (with expansion), weight 50 KG, carrying 63.5 KG weight to 183 meter in 96 seconds, long jump of 2.7 meter, climbing rope of 3 meter height, etc.

Salary Structure on Indian Navy Civilian Jobs

Salary structure on the Civilian posts is given as per the rank of or trades. For some posts, salary is given as per the Pay Matrix Level-1 i.e. Rs.18000-56900 while on some other posts it’s as per the Pay Matrix Level-2 i.e. Rs.19900-63200 and on some other posts it’s as per the Pay Matrix Level-3 i.e. Rs.21700-69100. Apart from the basic pay, various allowances like HRA, DA, etc. and facilities like mess, school, etc. are given on Civilian posts in Indian Navy.
