Work

Qualification
For admission in interior designing a student must score at least 55 percent in the 12th Std. with Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English.
Personal Qualification
Success in interior designing depends on the customer’s maximum satisfaction. An interior designer should not only be creative but also be technically sound. In a bid to enact final touches to the interiors the designer has to establish contact and communicate with many people. So he should have excellent communication skills. The design is always finalised by the client so the designer should be able to explain the details to his satisfaction in an easy and non technical terminology. The interior designer should have patience and also be soft spoken.

Rising consciousness about home has evolved many alternatives in the field of interior designing. It has led to endless job opportunities. Apart from doing a job with some big firm an interior designer can establish his/her own enterprise. Professionals can work for a private design firm or a theatre. Public sector also has high demand for interior designers. There is a demand for interior designers in public institutions such as town planning bureau, metropolitan and regional development departments and it will always remain there. The people interested in part time jobs and in their own business can seek a career in it with a small investment.
Income
Sky is the limit so far as income in the interior designing is concerned. An interior designer can easily earn from Rs. 6000 to Rs. 10000 per month in the beginning. A person who has done a course from a prestigious institution can start his career with even higher salary. The income of an interior designer depends on many factors. Creativity is the main factor. Apart from this an interior designer’s individual qualities and the company’s infrastructure also play an important role in enhancing the income.
Course
Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) is a four year course to become an interior designer. Ahmadabad based School of Interior Design also offers a five year course to the aspirants. Some of the institutes offer one year diploma in the interior designing in India.
