JMI Eligibility Criteria 2025: Jamia Millia Islamia has launched the online registration process for JMI admissions. Candidates interested in pursuing UG, PG, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, and Certificate programs can submit their applications on the official website: admission.jmi.ac.in. The online registration for the 2024-26 admission session will close on April 10. The application correction window will be open from April 12 to April 14. The JMI entrance exam is scheduled for April 26.

Before applying for the JMI entrance exam, candidates must first check the eligibility criteria. The JMI Eligibility Criteria are divided into two sections: age limits and educational qualifications for various programs.

The eligibility criteria for admissions to various undergraduate, diploma, and certificate courses at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) are carefully designed by the university to ensure that candidates meet the necessary academic standards and other requirements. JMI conducts an entrance examination every year to shortlist students for UG, PG, DIP, ADP, PGD, and CER programs.

The eligibility criteria for JMI UG courses vary depending on the program. Candidates must meet the specified qualifications for their chosen course; otherwise, they will not be considered for admission.

BA (Hons) Arabic

Senior Secondary School Certificate with Arabic as one of the subjects or a degree from an Arabic Madrasa recognized by JMI, equivalent to 10+2.

BA (Hons) Islamic Studies / BA (Hons) Persian / BA (Hons) Urdu

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 45% marks in aggregate or 50% marks in the specific subject.

BA (Hons) English

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate or in the subject concerned.

Bachelor of Hotel Management / Bachelor of Tourism & Travel Management / BVoc (Food Production) (Self-Financed)

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 45% marks in the best five subjects.

BA (Hons) Mass Media (Hindi) / BA (Hons) History

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate or in the subject concerned.

BA (Hons) French & Francophone Studies / BA (Hons) Spanish & Latin American Studies

10+2 with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.

BA (Hons) Economics / BBA / BA (Bachelor of Arts)

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 50% marks in the best five subjects.

BCom (Hons)

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 50% marks in the best five subjects or the specific subject concerned.

BA (Hons) Sociology / BA (Hons) Psychology

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 50% marks in the best five subjects.

BA (Hons) Political Science / BA or BSc (Hons) Geography

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 50% marks in the best five subjects or the specific subject concerned.

BA LLB (Hons)

Passed 12th grade or equivalent in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks in all core subjects, including English.

BFA (Painting) / BFA (Sculpture) / BFA (Applied Art) / BFA (Art Education)

Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) or equivalent with at least 50% marks in the best five subjects.

BSc (General)

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 50% marks in each science subject (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) and 50% in the best five subjects.

BSc (Hons) Physics / BSc (Hons) Chemistry / BSc (Hons) Mathematics / BSc (Hons) Applied Mathematics

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 50% marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and the specific subject concerned.

BSc (Biosciences) / BSc (Biotechnology)

Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least 50% marks in each science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics).

BSc (Aeronautics) (Mechanical / Avionics)

Senior Secondary School Certificate (12th grade) or equivalent with Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects, securing at least 55% marks in PCM.

Alternatively, a 3-4 years Diploma in Engineering recognized by AICTE or State Technical Education Board/University with at least 55% marks.

JMI Eligibility for Diploma Courses

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications to be eligible to pursue Diploma courses in JMI:

Diploma in Engineering (Regular)

  • Passed Secondary School/High School Certificate from a recognized board with at least 45% marks in Science and Mathematics (PCM) (excluding Bioscience).
  • Completed Senior Secondary School Certificate/Intermediate or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate in Science and Mathematics (PCM) (excluding Bioscience).
  • Hold an equivalent certificate from an institute recognized by the State/Central Government or a Senior Secondary School Certificate in Vocational Engineering with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Diploma in Engineering (Self-Financed)

The eligibility criteria for the Self-Financed Diploma in Engineering program remain the same as for the regular Diploma in Engineering. Candidates must fulfill the conditions outlined above.

Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.)

Applicants must have completed their Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (excluding vocational courses) with at least 50% marks in their best five subjects.

Diploma in Unani Pharmacy

Candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from a recognized board.

JMI Age Limit

There are no age restrictions on applying for admission to JMI courses. Those who have secured the same rank and marks in the JMI exam will be given preference if they are older than others.
