Scholarship exams that were till date organized for class 4th and 7th students by the Maharashtra government will now be taken for students who are studying in class 5th and 8th. According to the state education minister Vinod Tawde, “The exam will be known as primary and secondary scholarship exam.”
All the necessary details regarding the scholarship exams, which from this year would be for the class 5 and class 8 students, would get published by the month of December this year. The government of Maharashtra provides scholarship to students who belong to Scheduled Castes(SC), Scheduled Tribes(ST), Vimukti Jati Nomadic Tribes (VJNT) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) every year, in order to support their education and bring them into the mainstream of education in the state.
For many years there was a delay in the distribution of the amount among the students by the state. Approx. Rs. 700 crore is lying with the government which is from the scholarship funds. The revelation was made by the Human Resources Development (HRD) minister, who said to intervene into the matter soon and get through with it effectively.
