National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a fashion institute in India. Established in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, NIFT is an institution of design, management and technology for the competitive international fashion business. It invites applications from interested and eligible candidates for the posts mentioned below for the year 2012

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in NIFT

Educational Qualification

• Full time Post-graduation degree in the relevant area of Design, Management or Technology (i.e. MDes/ MFM/ MFTech) from NIFT with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.0 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 55% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) where marks are awarded
• Full time Post-graduation degree in the relevant area of Design, Management or Technology (i.e. MDes/ MFM/ MTech/ ME/ MSc/ MA/ MCom/ MBA Degree) (or) equivalent qualification from an institute/ university of national / international repute with minimum 7 years of education after higher secondary last of which was the Masters degree with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.0 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 55% marks in aggregate (of all the years/ semesters) where marks are awarded

Note: The area of research should be relevant to the field of fashion, failing which it shall be liable for rejection of the candidature of the applicant. The selection panel shall make appropriate recommendations to accept or reject the candidature on account of the area of research of the applicant to DG - NIFT who has discretionary power to accept or reject the candidature

Selection Properties for Admission in NIFT

On the basis of the Research Proposal and the form, the candidates will be shortlisted and invited for a personal interview. Based on the interview, the final selection of the candidates for the preliminary registration for PhD will be done

Duration of Course in NIFT

Candidate will be expected to complete the supervised studies within five years, extended to a maximum of seven years by specific approval of the DG - NIFT after which the registration shall stand automatically cancelled

The candidates may download the Application Form from the official website http://www.nift.ac.in/ or can purchase the same and should send it with necessary requisites to the Director (Admissions), National Institute of Fashion Technology, NIFT Campus, Hauz Khas, New Delhi -110016

Application Fee: The application fee should be paid in the form of Demand Draft in favour of NIFT, New Delhi payable at Delhi

The fee can be paid through the following ways:

• Candidates (General/ OBC Category) using the downloaded Application Form are required to submit a Demand Draft of Rs 2250 alongwith Application Form
• Candidates (SC/ ST Category) using the downloaded Application Form are required to submit a Demand Draft of Rs 1250 alongwith Application Form
