The south-west monsoon winds bring rainfall in India. The winds blow from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal towards the land. They carry moisture with them. When these winds strike the mountain barriers, rainfall occurs.
It is important because agriculture in India is dependent on the rainfall. A good amount of rainfall means a good crop.
