Common Management Admission Test is conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to facilitate Management Institutions across the Country to select suitable students for admission in all AICTE approved management programs and to reduce the burden on students of attending to multiple examinations.
The National level entrance exam is conducted twice a year -- the first round is conducted in September and second in February – and the scores obtained are used to prepare a merit list of the qualifying candidates. However, while granting admission to the students, colleges / Institutions take into consideration better of the two score obtained by the student.
This year, September 2013 CMAT -- first round of CMAT for admission for academic year 2014-2015 – will be held from 26 September 2013 to 30 September 2013.
CMAT exam pattern:
CMAT is a computer based online entrance test in which candidates are required to answer 100 multiple choice questions of 4 marks each. The question paper is divided into four sections -- Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation; Logical Reasoning; Language Comprehension; & General Awareness -- with each section having 25 questions.

Marking Pattern: 400 marks with provision for Negative marking– one mark gets deducted for each wrong answer.
The exam will be held / conducted at various centers in 62 cities in India and in 5 cities in 5 foreign countries.
Pattern of examination for CMAT
A Trial test for the students, to get familiar with the online test pattern and navigation functionality, will be available from 10 August 2013 onwards. Candidates are advised to go take them carefully to get accustomed with the screens, layout, and navigation.
On the examination day, each candidate will be allotted a desk with a computer terminal at the test venue.
They will also be provided with a scratch paper for calculations / rough work. After the test, candidate will be required to leave the scratch paper at their desks only.
During the three hour test, the candidates will not be allowed to leave their desks. No breaks will be given during the test.
