The NTA website is mobile-optimised. Candidates can easily download their scorecard on their smartphone, but ensure they save it as a PDF rather than just a screenshot. A high-resolution PDF is required for all official upload portals during PhD applications.

If the scorecard shows "Result Withheld" or "Incomplete", it may be due to a technical error or a mismatch in documents. Do not panic; reach out to the NTA helpline at 011-40759000. Most such issues are resolved within 48 hours

Immediately after downloading the UGC NET Scorecard PDF, candidates must check thei Name, Category, and Photograph. Any clerical errors on the scorecard must be reported to the NTA helpdesk (ugcnet@nta.ac.in) immediately. Securing the minimum qualifying marks (40% for General, 35% for Reserved) only makes you eligible for consideration. The actual "Qualified" status is determined by the top 6% rule. If a candidate is not able to find their login details during this peak hour, use their "Forgot Application No." link on the NTA portal. By providing their name and basic registration details, the system will send their credentials to your registered mobile number and email.

Qualifying for the 'Assistant Professor' role grants candidates a lifetime eligibility certificate. Unlike the JRF, this status does not expire, allowing candidates to apply for faculty positions in any recognised Indian college or university at any point in their career.

Candidates who have qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship should note that their award letter is valid for three years starting from February 4, 2026. Within this period, you must enrol in a PhD programme to activate your monthly fellowship. The digital award letter will be available on DigiLocker shortly.

Along with the result, NTA has also released the final answer key that also highlights that several questions were "dropped" after the challenge window. For these specific questions, the NTA has awarded full marks (2 marks) to all candidates who appeared in those shifts. This adjustment is automatically included in your final aggregate score. To download the scorecard PDF candidates must visit ugcnet.nta.nic.in and click on the "UGC NET December 2025 Result" link. Now enter the details and click on the submit button. Once the scorecard appears, look for the 'Download PDF' icon. It is important to save a digital copy, as the NTA preserves these records for only 90 days. This PDF is a mandatory document for university interviews and document verification processes.

Following the latest UGC guidelines, the December 2025 result was classified the shortlisted candidate into three distinct categories. Category 1 allows for JRF and Assistant Professor roles; Category 2 covers Assistant Professor and PhD admissions; and Category 3 is purely for PhD admission.

A common issue candidates face during result login is the "Invalid Security Pin" error. This usually occurs during high-traffic surges when the captcha image fails to refresh correctly in the browser's cache. If you face this, do not repeatedly click submit. Instead, click the "Refresh" icon next to the pin image to generate a new alphanumeric code.

The UGC NET result is compiled with equal weightage for both English and Hindi medium candidates. For subjects where the paper is bilingual, NTA ensures that translation errors do not penalise the candidate. As per official rules, in case of any ambiguity in a translated question, the English version is considered final and correct.

NTA uses the Equi-percentile method to handle the variations in difficulty between morning and evening shifts. For example, if the morning shift for 'History' was tougher than the evening shift, the raw marks required to reach the 99th percentile will be lower for the morning shift.

The NTA will release e-certificates for Assistant Professor eligibility and JRF Award Letters through DigiLocker. Qualifying for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) grants the candidate a monthly stipend for conducting research. Currently, the JRF fellowship stands at approximately ₹37,000 per month for the first two years. After two years, based on a progress evaluation by the department, the fellow is promoted to a Senior Research Fellow (SRF), where the stipend increases to approximately ₹42,000 per month.

While the UGC NET is a national-level eligibility test valid across all Indian universities, the State Eligibility Test (SET) is restricted to universities within a specific state. Candidates who qualify for the December 2025 NET exam are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor roles in any state across India.

NTA so send physical certificates by post. Instead, the NTA issues E-Certificates and JRF Award Letters through its dedicated e-certificate portal at ecertificate.nta.ac.in. One of the biggest advantages of qualifying for the UGC NET is the lifetime validity of the Assistant Professor eligibility. In cases where two or more candidates secure the same percentile score, the NTA uses a specific Tie-Breaking Rule. Priority is typically given to the candidate with higher marks in Paper 2 (the subject-specific paper). If the tie remains, the candidate with a higher percentage of marks in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination is ranked higher. In some cycles, age is also considered as a factor, where the older candidate is given preference.

The result being declared on February 4 will be strictly based on the Final Answer Key. After the provisional key challenge window closed on January 17, subject experts reviewed all objections. If a challenge was found valid, the key was updated, and the benefit of marks was extended to all eligible candidates. If a question was "dropped", full marks are usually awarded to those who appeared, depending on the NTA's specific policy for that subject.

Candidates must remember that the eligibility criteria for JRF and Assistant Professorship is different. For the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the upper age limit is generally 30 years as of the first day of the month in which the exam concludes (December 1, 2025, for this cycle). On the other hand, there is no upper age limit for applying for the Assistant Professor role, allowing experienced professionals to qualify for teaching positions at any stage of their careers.

As per the UGC policy, only the top 6% of the total candidates who appear in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 and secure the minimum qualifying marks will be declared qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility. Among these qualified candidates, a limited number are further selected for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) based on higher merit and the availability of slots.

It is important to learn the difference between raw marks and Percentile Scores. The NTA Score shown on your result is not your percentage of marks but your relative standing among all test-takers in your subject shift. For example, the 99 percentile means 99% of the candidates who appeared in that shift scored less than or equal to you. The final cut-off is also determined based on these percentiles rather than absolute marks.

To check the scorecard, you candidates need their Application Number and your Date of Birth (in DD/MM/YYYY format). If you have misplaced your application number, you can retrieve it via the "Forgot Application Number" link on the login page by providing your basic registration details.

After the release of the result, the NTA usually takes 15 to 30 days to issue the E-certificates to shortlisted candidates. These certificates will be available for download on the official website or through the DigiLocker platform.
