University Grant Commission (UGC) has invited applications for the award of 200 Fellowships under the scheme of “Post Doctoral Fellowship for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe Candidates” for the year 2011‐2012 and 2012-2013 (100 fellowships for each year).
Objective
The main objective of the Scheme is to give an opportunity to SC/ ST candidates to pursue advance studies and research in Science, Engineering & Technology, Humanities, and Social Sciences in Indian universities/ institutions/ colleges on regular and full time basis.

- Closing date for Online submission of application forms: 5 January 2013
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: The candidate should possess a doctorate degree in the relevant subject preferably with published research work to their credit
- Age Limit (as on 1 July 2012): Maximum 50 years. For female candidates, the upper age limit is 55 years. In exceptional cases, the age can be relaxed.
Amount of Scholarship
100 scholarships will be awarded for candidates from each year. The tenure of the award will be two years with no provision for further extension.

Departmental Assistance | 10% of Post Doctoral Fellowship to the host institution |
Escorts/ Reader Assistance | Rs 2000 per month (fixed) in cases of physically disabled & blind candidates |
HRA: Post Doctoral Fellowship will be provided with accommodation in hostel recognized/ maintained by the institutions can be reimbursed the hostel fee, excluding mess, electricity, water charges, etc. A certificate in this regard must be furnished through the Registrar/ Director/ Principal (Annexure-II). If Post Doctoral Fellow makes his/her own arrangements of accommodation, he/she can draw HRA as per categorization of the cities by the Government of India. The Post Doctoral Fellow will have to submit a certificate to the UGC for claiming HRA through the concerned University/ Institution/ College.
Selection Procedure: Meritorious candidates will be selected by an expert committee.
