About WBJEE Exam
WBJEE is a common entrance examinations held at state level for admission to the Undergraduate Level Engineering and Medical courses in the State of West Bengal. The Mathematics section of WBJEE 2014 engineering entrance exam consists of 40 questions. So, out of 40, 5 questions are given below with the answers and solutions:
6. Let be two fixed complex numbers in the Argand plane and z be an arbitrary point satisfying |Z-Z1|+|Z-Z2|= 2|Z1-Z2|. Then the locus of z will be
(A) an ellipse
(B) a straight line joining z1 and z2
(C) a parabola
(D) a bisector of the line segment joining z1 and z2
Hints : Possibility of ellipse P(z), S1(z1), S2(z2)
PS1 + PS2 = 2a = 2S1S2 = 4ae
∴ So, e =1/2, it is an ellipse
8. Out of 7 consonants and 4 vowels, the number of words (not necessarily meaningful) that can be made, each consisting of 3 consonants and 2 vowels, is
Hints: 7C3 X 4C2 X 5!
9. The remainder obtained when 1! + 2! + 3! + …………+ 11! is divided by 12 is
Hints: 12 divides 4!, 5! Etc.
Remainder = 1 + 2 + 6 = 9
