Six Universities, 46 government colleges and 23 non-government colleges with the fund of Rs 20 crore is going to get connected via Wi-Fi facilities in Odisha under the first phase of smart campus scheme. With the help of this connectivity these institutions would get their smart classrooms, e-libraries and communications –cum-language laboratories from the next academic year.
Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi, while attending a function announced about the proposed plan and got thunderous applause from the audience. The number of institutions, though small, would be extended further in future where more colleges and universities would be added under the scheme.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited would be executing the project and it has already started its required survey in all the state-run institutions for the installation of required devices.
The Higher Education secretary Gagan Kumar Dhal said, “Funds will be released after BSNL submits a detailed project report.”
