4 December: Navy Day
43rd Navy Day was observed on 4 December 2014. On this day, Chief of Naval Admiral Robin K Dhowan and navy personnel rededicated themselves to the service of the nation.
The President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended dedication of Indian Navy to protect the maritime interests of nation.
The Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and Army Chief Lt. General Dalbir Singh Suhag also paid tributes to martyrs of INS Sindhurakshak at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi.
As a part of Navy Day celebrations, a series of operational displays was held in Vishakhapatnam and 20 ships, 23 aircraft and a submarine showcased the capability and versatility of Naval ships, submarines, aircraft and the Special Forces.
About Navy Day
The Navy day will be celebrated every year to commemorate the success of Operation Trident of Indian Navy on Karachi Harbour during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
