The Seventh Summit on the Global Agenda was held in UAE from 9 November 2014 to 11 November 2014.
The Summit on the Global Agenda for the year 2014 was organized by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with the Government of the United Arab Emirates and Government of Dubai.
The Summit was held under the theme Shaping the Transformations of the World and in partnership with the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
The co-chairs of the Summit were Sultan Saeed Nasser Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, and Sami Dhaen Al Qamzi, Director-General, Department of Economic Development, Government of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The summit was attended by more than 1000 business, government and civil society leaders from 80 Global Agenda Councils.
This year’s Summit marks the fifth time that it has been held in Dubai, and the seventh successive year it will have been hosted in the United Arab Emirates.
At the opening session, the Forum launched the Global Agenda Council Vision Awards. The awards were launched to acknowledge the outstanding work of the Global Agenda Councils, the World Economic Forum’s brain trust of business, government and civil society thought leaders.
During the summit, the leaders discussed the importance of understanding and use of technology to improve the state of the world.
Also, the Forum launched a new think-tank community, with 25 top policy and research institutes around the world. The Forum also released reports on the future of manufacturing and on the future availability of natural resources, as well as the Outlook on the Global Agenda 2015, which identified the 10 key trending issues identified by members of the Global Agenda Councils and other Forum communities.
The Summit on the Global Agenda 2015 will be held in Abu Dhabi from 20 October to 22 October 2015.
