ABN Amro Changed its Microfinance Portfolio

ABN Amro Bank that has tie ups with 30 microfinance institutions across the country in Jan 2010 decided to focus on smaller microfinance institutions and lower its exposure to large microfinance institutions. The present microfinance portfolio of the bank stands at Rs 300 crore.

ABN Amro Bank that has tie ups with 30 microfinance institutions across the country in Jan 2010 decided to focus on smaller microfinance institutions and lower its exposure to large microfinance institutions. The present microfinance portfolio of the bank stands at Rs 300 crore. The bank registered single or low double digit growth in the sector over the last two years. The Reserve Bank of India expressed concerns over the high rates of interest charged by the MFIs.
