Anticipating India - The Best of National Interest authored by Shekhar Gupta
The Book entitled Anticipating India - The Best of National Interest written by Shekhar Gupta, the editor-in-chief of The Indian Express was released on 24 May 2014.
The book has captured India’s political territory and trends of Shekhar Gupta’s 900-odd columns spread through 19 years. The columns are a part of the column, National Interest of Indian Express that was started by Shekhar Gupta in November 1997.
The collection of the columns covered myriads ways in which India has since 1997. These columns and articles are a part of dilemmas, crisis and power plays of the decade and more that have taken place in India. It has featured collection of columns on topics like Ruchika Girhotra case of 1990 to the Delhi gang rape case of December 2012. It also speaks about the state affairs under the congress and rise of Narendra Modi.
The book has questioned power, its use and abuse and within itself carries the ideas of India that challenge conventional wisdom, shatter stereotypes and long-held assumptions of who are as a nation and a people. Overall, the book is a compilation of contemporary understanding of the history of India in new century.
