Bangladesh Cabinet approved National ICT Draft Policy 2015
The draft seeks establishment of a transparent and accountable government through ICT expansion to enhance the standards of citizen service.
Bangladesh Cabinet on 2 February 2015 approved the draft of National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Policy, 2015. The draft seeks establishment of a transparent and accountable government through ICT expansion to enhance the standards of citizen service.
The approval was given during the weekly meet of the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The meeting was held at Bangladesh Secretariat. Before finalisation and clearance, the draft proposal was consulted by the stakeholders.
The policy carries a specific vision of multifaceted use like ensuring skilled human resource development, rendering public service through public-private-partnership. It also envisions to Help Bangladesh to be into a mid-income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041.
For that purpose the policy carries 10 specific objectives, 56 strategic themes, 306 items which will be covered under short, mid and long-term action plan. These three versions of plans will be implemented by various ministries by 2016, 2018 and 2021, respectively.
