Bhaichung Bhutia, the former India captain of the football team was appointed as the chairman of the All India Football Federation’s technical committee. The decision to appoint him as the chairman was taken by President Praful Patel.
He succeeds former India international Mohammad Habib. Apart from Habib, the present technical committee also includes some international players such as Pradip Chowdhury and Inder Singh.
He retired from the international football in 2011. 36-year-old Bhaichung Bhutia’s appointment was made final at last executive committee meeting of the All India Football Federation.

• Bhaichung Bhutia scored a record of 42 goals from 107 appearances.
• He led India to the victory of Nehru Cup twice.
• Also, under his captaincy, India won SAFF Championship thrice. India also won AFC Challenge Cup in 2008 which allowed the team to qualify for 2011 Asian Cup.
