Winehouse won international acclaim with her albums Frank and Back to Black. She won a several prestigious awards, including five Grammys in 2008, and was best known for the single Rehab.

The British singer is the latest member of the tragic 27 Club. The beehived soul-jazz diva and Grammy award-winner joined the ranks of rock legends Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and Rolling Stone Brian Jones who have died all too young at 27.

Amy Jade Winehouse born on 14 September 1983 was known for her powerful contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres including R&B, soul and jazz. Winehouse's 2003 debut album, Frank, was critically successful in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize.

Winehouse became the first British female to win five Grammys, including three of the Big Four: Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. She won a BRIT Award for Best British Female Artist0n 14 February 2007. Winehouse launched her own club night, Snakehips at the Monarch, in the Camden Monarch venue in London on 10 July 2008.

The singer’s struggle with drugs and drinks had forced her to check into a rehab clinic. She was recently booed at the opening performance in Belgrade, apparently too drunk to sing. During the 90-minute concert, Winehouse could only mumble some of the lyrics, failing to follow her band.  Winehouse was battling with substance abuse and alcohol addiction. She admitted in interviews to having problems with self-harm, depression and eating disorders. In 2005, she went through a period of drinking, heavy drug use, violent mood swings and weight loss.
