The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure on 15 September 2011 approved a Rs 6013 crore project for widening of National Highways stretches in Rajasthan and Gujarat under Road Transport and Highways Ministry's flagship road building programme NHDP.
The committee approved development of six laning of Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad section on National Highway NH-79A, NH-79, NH-76 and NH8 in Rajasthan and Gujarat under NHDP Phase V. Of the Rs 6013.70 crore project cost, Rs 626.40 crore will be spent on land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement and preconstruction purposes. The widening will be undertaken on design, build, finance, operate and transfer ( DBFOT) basis in build, operate and transfer ( BOT) toll mode of delivery.
The project when completed will reduce the time and cost of travel for traffic plying between Kishangarh and Ahmedabad which will connect to Vadodara and Mumbai in the West and Delhi in the East. Also the project will help develop tourism activities and would boost economic activities in the State of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
