CAG Challenged Zoom’s Contract with SIS

CAG challenged Rs 75 crore profit by Zoom Communications in its contract with SIS Live for the telecast of CWG.

CAG in January 2011 challenged Rs 75 crore profit by Zoom Communications in its contract with UK broadcaster SIS Live for the telecast of Commonwealth Games and mentioned that the deal harmed government-run Doordarshan’s interests. The Comptroller and Auditor General’s prepared report on the Rs 243-crore SIS Live-Prasar Bharati telecast deal faults the UK firm’s contract with India-based Zoom for its execution and profit margins. It also questioned if the contract is above board with SIS Live’s arrangement with Zoom accounting for 70% of costs. The SIS Live deal with Zoom caught the attention of the V K Shunglu committee probing the CWG. The audit is critical as it showed that because of the deal with SIS national broadcaster DD did not gain by way of technical capacity despite the Games being staged in India.
