The Indian cabinet committee on infrastructure (CCI) on 10 June 2010 approved highway projects worth Rs 2500 crore. All the highways projects approved today fall under the NHDP Phase III. The highways would come up across states of Gujarat, West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. All the highways will be constructed under the National Highways Development Programme (NHDP). The four-laning of 123 km Jetpur-Somnath highway in Gujarat to be built on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis, estimated to cost Rs 830 crore was approved. The four-laning of the 78 km stretch on Krishnanagar-Baharampore section on NH 34 in West Bengal was also approved. A project covering the Muzaffarpur-Sonbarasa stretch in Bihar got a go-ahead from the committee.
