CEOs from the World Came Together to Combat Deadly Cancer

More than 100 iconic CEOs from all over the world joined hands in order to make accessible cheap cancer care, especially in China and India under the alliance known as CEO Cancer Gold Standard Programme. These CEOs are from renowned companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi, Johnson and Johnson, AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly and Novartis.

These CEOs would check out on the doors of mayors from India and China to request them for help in expansion of cancer care, early diagnosis as well as cancer prevention in their states.

In context to India alone, there are around 28 lakh cancer cases with new 10 lakh happening every year. The alliance has an aim of improving prevention as well as diagnosis of cancer faster. It is for the first time that the employers offering the alliance are also paying for the coordinated as well as comprehensive war on the deadly disease through corporate commitment to employees’ health as well as their families.  

Considering the facts, cancers also account for 14 percent of total non-communicable diseases mortality in India. Also, cancer accounts for around 3.3 percent of disease burden as well as 9 percent of overall deaths.

CEO Roundtable on Cancer is a venture as an answer to the former US President George Bush, who challenged the CEOs of world to try something that is venturesome and bold for defeating cancer.
