Commanders Conference held in Kochi

This is the first time when the event was held outside New Delhi.

INS VikramadityaPrime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 December 2015 chaired the combined Commanders Conference, an annual tri-services event held on board INS Vikramaditya about 50 kms off Kochi coast, Kerala.

This is the first time when the event was held outside New Delhi. During the conference, the prime minister also reviewed exercise like firing of surface-to-surface missile by INS Nirghat (a missile boat).


The Conference, also known as the Unified Commanders’ Conference, is an occasion in which India’s defence policy, doctrine and operational challenges are discussed in detail.

Other participants of the event included Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Chiefs of Army, Navy and Airforce.

Before departing to INS Vikramaditya, Modi reviewed the tri-services guard of honour at Southern Naval Command.
