Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Deependra Singh Shekhawat recently nominated four MLAs, for participating in an international conference on “Empowering women in developing countries through health care and nutrition”, scheduled to begin at the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS) in Pilani on 22 April 2010. Minister of State for Medical and Health Rajkumar Sharma, Rao Rajendra Singh, Kiran Maheshwari and Sajjan Katara are the four nominated MLAs. At the three-day conference experts and policy-makers from India and abroad would analyse various aspects of development and welfare of women with prime focus on their health. The conference was designed for policy-makers, academic institutions, health and nutrition experts, UN agencies and NGOs dealing with women's health care. The conference would be jointly organized by The Women Studies and Societal Development Unit of BITS and the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries, New Delhi. It would be supported by UNICEF-Rajasthan.
